Women Hair Loss Products
It is often said that there's really no cure for baldness. This fact refers to androgenetic alopecia which is a pattern balding trait coming from genes that instruct certain body enzyme to overproduce testosterone androgens that weaken hair follicles to produce very fine hair or none at all. It's true that genetically caused baldness can only find lasting cure with gene therapy. But until the genetic mapping project which successfully identified the genes causing both male and female pattern baldness yields a commercial genetic therapy, most of the hair fall treatment that apply to both sexes are confined to mitigating the action of DHT and improving blood flow to nourish the follicles at the cellular level.
The FDA has approved just two drugs that are now commercially available in men and women hair. Hair fall products have been marketed around Minoxidil and Finasteride drugs in varying concentrations usually below 2% for non prescriptive over the counter products. Anything higher than that will require a doctor's prescription.

The trademarked brand Rogaine is now synonymous to Minoxidil as the most popular hair fall product proven to be effective in growing hair after 6 months to a year of continuous regular use. Containing 2% Minoxidil, it is a topical application meant to dilate blood vessels once it gets absorbed by the scalp and allows more nutrient-carrying blood to flow into the hair follicles. Minoxidil can cause hair to grow provided there are still hair follicles on the scalp. It cannot create hair when the follicles are already dead. Minoxidil has excellent chances of growing hair for people in the early to mid stages of hair loss. Rogaine markets a specially formulated product for women. Hair loss products for both sexes contain the same 2% Minoxidil in a topical solution.
